Food & Entertainment on a Fall Sunday!

A Fall Sunday filled with cooking, baking and enjoying beautiful New England Fall weather...

I am excited for Fall and everything that comes with it, the cooler weather, sweaters, comfort food, the foliage and pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING! It is my absolute favorite season of the year to say the least.

We spent our Sunday (which happened to be the 1st day of October) cooking, baking and enjoying the beautiful New England Fall weather as our entertainment.

I started with making my infamous (to my family anyway) healthy slow cooker chili. It's packed with vegetables, turkey and spices that includes a little bit of heat. I made two versions, one for my vegetarians and the second one with turkey meat for David and I.

What goes good with chili? Yes...cornbread! Cornbread with chili is a must, so I made homemade corn muffins that were delicious and sweet enough to counter balance the heat of the chili. YUM!

For dessert, I baked homemade chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. They’re sweet and salty and another Fall favorite dessert of mine... I know, I know, it's not really considered a "Fall" dessert, but it is for me as this is typically the time of year that I bake chocolate chip cookies.

Our entertainment for the day involved a 3.1 mile hike on a trail close to our home. It was a beautiful, mild day for a hike and a good idea as we needed the exercise to walk-off the chili, cornbread and cookies that we indulged in earlier in the day!

It was a wonderful way to spend our Sunday - food + entertainment = happiness...

Take a moment and share with us how you plan to spend some of the upcoming Fall weekends by leaving us a comment in this post.
